Psychiatric care is a highly specialized care focused on the treatment of mental illnesses. Child psychiatry and pediatrics are closely connected and cooperating fields. Cooperation takes place both at the level of inpatient departments and outpatient clinics. In the pediatric department often contain patients after serious suicide attempts, including intoxications, with anorexia nervosa, with comorbid psychiatric and somatic diagnoses, or psychological decompensation due to somatic illness. In all these cases, it is important for the pediatrician to have the opportunity to consult with a consultant psychiatrist. Pediatricians frequently encounter...

Introduction: Febrile seizures (FS) cumulatively affect approximately 2-5% of children. According to most guidelines, complicated and recurrent simplex FS are indicated for hospitalization and further diagnostic workup. In the case of a stable condition in a child (over 18 months) after simple FK, there is no reason to hospitalize or extend the diagnosis, in children under 18 months observation is recommended until neuroinfection is ruled out. The aim was to compare published recommendations with the reality of practice. Material and methods: Studied sample consisted of 66 children with FS hospitalized over 12 months at the Department of Paediatrics...

In the case report, we present a case of a 15-year-old girl with hepatopathy of unclear aetiology. Fever and laboratory alteration of liver enzymes dominated the clinical findings. The extensive investigation program did not show infection with hepatotropic or non-hepatotropic viruses, autoimmune or other less common non-infectious causes. By clarifying the history of contact with the laboratory mouse, the examination focused on zoonoses from which leptospirosis was found. Although this is a relatively rare bacterial cause of hepatopathy, it will be necessary to consider this infection in the context of the floods of autumn 2024.

Gut microbiome is regarded as an invisible organ influencing the human organism throughout the entire lifespan. Microbiome determines various physiological processes including immune system maturation, metabolic programming and furthermore, facilitates connections even between relatively distant organs (e.g. gut-brain axis). Its development begins shortly after birth and is modified by various aspects. We can categorize them into modifiable ( antibiotic treatment, diet) and non-modifiable factors (gestational age, delivery mode). Intestinal alteration caused by these influencing factors might contribute to short-term and long-term morbidity. Our objective...
