Meningococcus in practice - why is prevention important?

Invasive meningococcal disease is among the most serious infectious diseases with high mortality and a high percentage of severe lifelong consequences for patients who survive. The insidious nature of this disease is that a
servus clinical condition often develops within hours from apparent good health, and initial symptoms are usually nonspecific and do not indicate the development of a life-thre
atening condition. Even experienced doctors may not recognize this disease in time; therefore prevention, vaccination respectively, is crucial. The presented article is based on case report.
